T-ball, baseball and softball registrations ongoing

Local youth T-ball, baseball and softball registrations are going on throughout eastern St. Mary Parish.

In Morgan City, the recreation department is taking registration for youth baseball through March 18.

Children can be registered by visiting the recreation department’s office at 915 Everett St. between 8 a.m. and 12:30 p.m. and 1:30 p.m. and 5 p.m., Monday through Friday.

A copy of the participant’s birth certificate must be provided and a $40 registration fee will be assessed.

Morgan City’s T-Ball league (5-6 years of age) is open to any youth who is or will be 5 years old by May 1 and who will not turn 7 years old until after April 30 of this year.

The city’s Minor League is available to those who are or will be 7 years old by May 1 and who will not turn 9 years old until after April 30 of this year.

The City League is open to youngsters who are or will be 9 years old by May 1 and will not turn 11 years old until after April 30 of this year.

Dixie League is open to those who are or will be age 11 by May 1 and will not reach age 13 until after April 30 of the current year.

In Berwick and Bayou Vista, youth baseball registration is open to residents who are ages 5-12.

The cost to participate is $40 per player and $30 for each additional participant from the same family.

Registrations forms, which are found in today’s paper at the bottom of this page and will be featured in upcoming editions of The Daily Review, may be turned in at the Berwick Civic Center today from 5:30 p.m. to 7 p.m., as well as at the Bayou Vista Civic Center, Monday through Friday, between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m.

Participants also can register online at www.smcbaseball.org.

They also may be returned at tryouts March 16 at the Berwick Civic Center. The tryouts for 11-12 year olds will be held at 9 a.m., while those in the 9-10 year old league will be held at 11 a.m. and 7-8 at 1 p.m.

No registrations will be taken after the tryout times.

In Patterson, registration for T-ball, baseball and softball will continue through Thursday from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. each day at the Patterson Area Civic Center.

A registration fee of $35 per child will be charged.

Girls eligible for T-ball must be born between Jan. 1, 2006, and April 30, 2008, while boys must be born between May 1, 2006, and April 30, 2008.

Those participating in baseball must be born between May 1, 2000, and April 30, 2006, while participants in softball must be born between Jan. 1, 1995, and Dec. 31, 2005.

Raffle tickets also are being sold for 10 different prizes. Raffle tickets are $1 each and proceeds will benefit youth softball and baseball.

The tickets can be purchased during registration, at tryouts March 9 at Kemper Williams Park, and the opening tournament March 23.

Tryouts will begin at 9 a.m. Saturday.

In Amelia, the recreation department is holding T-ball, baseball and softball registration at the Amelia Recreation Department, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday, through March 15.

T-ball is open to youngsters, ages 4-6, while baseball and softball are open to those ages 7-13.

Registration for T-ball is $15, while baseball and softball registration is $20.

Participants must be age 13 or 14 by April 30.

A $20 registration fee will be charged and a copy of the player’s birth certificate is needed.
