Store employee arrested for theft
St. Mary Parish Sheriff Mark Hebert reported the following arrest:
—Adam P. Clements, 28, of Caleb Lane in Centerville, was arrested Tuesday at 10:03 a.m. at Walmart in Bayou Vista for theft over $500. Deputies learned from store security that Clements, who was an employee of Walmart, was caught on video surveillance taking an iPod from the store. Clements remained this morning jail with no bail set.
Morgan City Assistant Police Chief Glenn Blanco reported the following arrests:
—Demetrius Steele, 33, of Federal Avenue in Morgan City, was arrested at 6:15 p.m. Tuesday and charged with illegal carrying of a weapon.
Morgan City police were called to Federal Avenue in regards to a disturbance. Upon arrival, they located Steele under the carport of the residence. As the officers approached him, he kept placing his hands in his pants pockets as if he was trying to conceal something, and after several minutes, he complied and removed his hands. Officers did a pat down search of Steel and located a firearm, the report stated. Officers determined that Steele and his girlfriend were having an argument just prior to their arrival and Steele was arrested, booked and later released after on a $692 bail.
—Kaci Giroir, 24, of Jones Street in Berwick, was arrested at 12:30 p.m. Tuesday and charged with warrants for failure to pay probation fees, failure to appear to pay fines and probation violation. Giroir turned herself in at the Morgan City Police Department after learning of warrants for her arrest. She was taken to jail and released after posting $1,157 bail.
—Robert Gussman, 40, of Bush Street in Morgan City, was arrested at 4:17 p.m. Tuesday and charged with warrants for failure to appear to pay probation fees, failure to appear for trial, contempt of court and probation violation.
Gussman turned himself in and was arrested, jailed and held. His bail is set at $2,175.
—Reginald McLellan, 38, of Gainsboro, Tenn., was arrested at 5:28 p.m. Tuesday and charged with obscenity and disturbing the peace intoxicated. Officers responded to the Sports Bar, located at Martin Luther King Jr. Avenue and La. 182 in Morgan City after a complaint was received of a subject exposing himself to several patrons inside the lounge. Upon arrival, they located McLellan in the parking lot. He was identified by witnesses and arrested, the report stated. He was taken to jail and held with no bail set.
—Jairo Molina Jr., 26, of Village Lane in Amelia, was arrested at 7:44 p.m. Tuesday and charged with a probation violation. Molina was jailed and released after posting a $500 bail.
Berwick Police Chief James Richard reported no arrests.
Patterson Police Chief Patrick LaSalle reported no arrests.
