PONY 14s begin Texas tourney play

The St. Mary Pony 14-year-old All-Stars begin play Thursday in the Pony South Zone’s Tournament’s Elite Bracket in Burleson, Texas. The team finished runner-up at the 2014 South Zone Baseballl Pony Super Region Tournament. When the St. Mary PONY 14-year-old All-Stars take the field Thursday, they will do so as at least the last east St. Mary Parish team still playing any kind of youth baseball this summer.

Dodson places third in class at world tournament

Morgan City’s Al Dodson placed third in the Class N Elders at the National Horseshoe Pitchers World Tournament in Hamburg, New York. The tournament was held July 14-26 with official total participation at 1,264 during the two-week event.
