An American standout master’s runner won the Marcus Jones/100 Black Men of St. Mary Parish 17th annual 5K Run/Walk, held Aug. 30.

Despite weather, boat races deemed a success

Deep South Racing Association held its “Battle on the Basin” races Saturday and Sunday on Flat Lake near Russo’s Landing in Morgan City. While rain disrupted Saturday’s event, Sunday’s racing went on without a hitch, and organizers were able to get in action that could not be completed Saturday. 'Battle on the Basin' set for this weekend

Deep South Racing Association’s “Battle on the Basin” will return to Russo’s Landing in Morgan City Saturday and Sunday. Racing will be held in eight classes. Anywhere from 45 to 55 boats are expected, Deep South Racing Association President/Owner Jed Angelle said today. Racing will begin at 11 a.m. each day.
