Colley wins at state shooting competition

A St. Mary Parish 4-H’er has won the Junior Division in the Archery Recurve Sighted Modified FITA at the 4-H State Shooting Sports Competition held in Shreveport and Grand Cane.

St. Mary Parish Golf Field Day

The 2nd Annual St. Mary Parish Golf Field Day was held May 18 at The Atchafalaya at Idlewild near Patterson. Students learned about putting, chipping,
full swing and course strategy. They were taken for a tour of the course. A second clinic is planned for those interested in learning more about the game. Students watched demonstrations by Patterson High golfers Bryce Beaubouef, Cade Thibodaux and Joel Singleton. Ali Prescott, a winner on the Kelly Gibson Junior Tour, also participated. Instructors were Willie Edwards and David Schexnayder. Also assisting with the Field Day were Herman Hebert, Larry Pennison, Tom Boneval, Les Rulf, Clyde Crappell and Mike Ditch. Swing For a Cause golf tournament team winners

The Swing For a Cause tournament was held May 9 at The Atchafalaya at Idlewild near Patterson. The third-place winner was Garrison Construction, which shot a 60. From left are Phillip Herrington and Brandon Marcel, tournament

also won a Closest-to-the-Hole Shootout on the 18th hole against The Spahr’s team. They had been tied after regulation. The Swing for a Cause tournament featured 114 players competing in a scramble format of four-player teams. A portion of the proceeds went to St. Mary Parish schools’ golf teams.
