Patterson man killed in 2-vehicle crash on U.S. 90 (updated)

PATTERSON, La. — A 33-year-old Patterson man was killed Monday in a crash on U.S. 90 in Calumet, according to a Louisiana State Police Troop I news release.

Ryan Boudreaux died when the vehicle in which his wife was driving and he was a passenger crossed the highway into oncoming traffic, the report stated.

The vehicle was struck near where Boudreaux was seated, Tfc. Stephen Hammons, public information officer for Troop I.

Boudreaux was pronounced dead at the scene by the St. Mary Parish coroner, the news release stated.

Hammons said that troopers have determined that Boudreaux was not restrained.

The press release stated that shortly before 2 p.m. Tasha Boudreaux, 31, of Patterson was driving a 2007 Toyota east on the highway. For reasons still under investigation, she traveled off the left side of the road, crossed the median and entered the westbound lanes.

After entering the westbound lanes, the vehicle was struck by a 2011 Toyota van driven by Jona Laborde, 41, of Youngsville.

Tasha Boudreaux sustained moderate injuries and was transported to a local hospital. Laborde and her 3-year-old passenger sustained minor injuries and were transported to a local hospital, according to Hammons. He said that all three were properly restrained.

The news release states that it is unknown if impairment was a factor in this crash; however, routine toxicology samples were obtained and have been submitted for analysis.
