JEAN BOBBIE ‘SAPPHIRE’ THOMAS-DARBY
Jean Bobbie “Sapphire” Thomas-Darby, 65, a native of Shadyside and a resident of Verdunville, died Sunday, August 10, 2014, 11:33 p.m., at Franklin Foundation Hospital.
Visitation will be Saturday, August 16, at Triumph Baptist Church in Franklin, from 10 a.m. until funeral services at 1 p.m. Burial will be in the Nazarene Cemetery in Franklin. The Rev. Carl F. Lewis will officiate the services.
Jean leaves to cherish her memories a son, Henry Lee Darby Jr. of Verdunville; two daughters, Mrs. Allen (Jessica Mae) Johnson of St. Joseph and Runiqa Janeze Darby of Thibodaux; stepdaughter, Mrs. Larry (Charlotte) Woods of Franklin; and a play-daughter, Mrs. Donald (Mona) Legnon of Franklin; five brothers, Wayne Thomas of Verdunville, Ricky Thomas of Centerville, Harry Lee Thomas of St. Martinville, Ron Hawkins of Wichita, Kansas and John Hawkins of Amarillo, Texas; three sisters, Margaret Faye Coleman and Greta; both of Baldwin, and Karen Gier of Bayou Vista; nine grandchildren; five great grandchildren; her furry friend, Foxy; three godchildren; a devoted aunt; three devoted friends; four sisters-in-law: devoted cousins; her caregiver; and a host of relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, two daughters, two grandchildren; six brothers; a sister; and a niece.
