A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Thursday, September 4, 2014, at 2 p.m., at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Verdunville for Mr. Floyd Edgar Paul Sr., 91, a native and longtime resident of Verdunville, who passed away early Friday, August 29, 2014, at his home. He will be laid to rest with Military Honors in the Immaculate Conception Cemetery. Father Thomas Vu will officiate the services.
A gathering of family and friends will be held Thursday at the church, from 11 a.m. until time of service at 2 p.m., with the rosary being prayed at 1:30 p.m.
Mr. Paul was a veteran of the United States Army, having faithfully served his country and fellow man during World War II.
Survivors include three children, Mildred Paul Young and her husband, Verner, Floyd Paul Jr. and Audrey Paul McIlwain and her husband, Ronnie; one sister, Mary Paul Bourgeois and her husband, Dennis, seven grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren; a special niece; and two special nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Corrine Verdun Paul; four children, Catherine Paul, Roy J. Paul, Flora Helphenstine and Rosemary Tauriac; his parents, Mike Paul Sr. and Lilly Dardar Paul; eight brothers, Roy Paul, Elwood Paul, Harold Paul Sr., Mike Paul Jr., Eolours Paul, Larry Paul Sr., Wilbert Paul Sr., Willard Paul; and three sisters, Mildred Verdun, Sadie Paul and Juanita Burgess.
