Morgan City wins Kenny Roy Invitational

By: Staff Reports
Morgan City’s 7- and 8-year-old All-Stars won the ninth annual Kenny Roy Invitational held this past weekend at Berwick Civic Center.

Morgan City beat Patterson in the championship game with teams from St. Mary Central, Franklin, Pierre Part and Thibodaux also participating.

Roy was from Bayou Vista and died of leukemia at the age of 27. His family has raised money since his passing for cancer research through the tournament and with a Relay for Life team called Family and Friends of Kenny Roy that will be involved in the July 16 event at Morgan City’s Tiger Stadium.

Roy’s nephew, Kenny Rhodes, threw out the first pitch for the tournament and his niece, Jordan Richard, caught the first pitch.
