Early voting nears 1,800 in St. Mary Parish

Early voting totals in St. Mary Parish neared 1,800 ballots cast through the third day of voting Tuesday, Registrar of Voters Jolene Holcombe said in a news release.

HOBY Ambassador chosen

Mayavellie Bochas was selected by Central Catholic High School to be a Hugh O’Brian Youth Leadership Ambassador. HOBY Ambassadors are high school students selected as representatives from their high schools because they have demonstrated the potential to lead others. Founded in 1958 by veteran actor Hugh O’Brian, HOBY’s mission is to provide lifelong leadership development opportunities that empower individuals to achieve their highest potential. O’Brian set out to help young people make a difference and become positive catalysts for change — in the home, school, workplace, and community. HOBY now has more than 355,000 alumni. Berwick Junior High sends care packages to soldiers

Berwick Junior High’s Student Council and seventh-grade American history class recently collected items for care packages to send to soldiers overseas.
