The Grow Louisiana Coalition will hold a meeting at 11:30 a.m. Friday at the Petroleum Club of Morgan City to discuss the importance of the oil and gas industry to Louisiana’s economy and to give people an opportunity to ask questions about the organization, Grow Louisiana Coalition Executive Marc Ehrhardt said.
The meeting is free and open to the public and should last less than an hour, Ehrhardt said. A light lunch and refreshments will be served.
The coalition is a broad-based organization that incorporates companies, suppliers, individuals and family to raise awareness about how important the oil and gas industry is to the state’s economy and to the 300,000 people who work in and alongside the industry, Ehrhardt said.
The coalition is aimed at informing people about the industry. That includes demonstrating the industry’s value to the state’s economy. The industry directly pays $2.5 billion per year into the state treasury, which is 15 to 17 percent of the state budget, Ehrhardt said.
Another organization called Give ‘Em the Boot will present some specific issues being debated in the state legislature, Ehrhardt said.
