The Church of the Assumption in Franklin recently celebrated the 100th year of the building of their church. The congregation celebrated the 100th birthday with a mass celebrated by Bishop Michael Jarrell, assisted by Father Lloyd Benoit, pastor. Concelebrating the mass were Fathers George Simon and Michael Russo, former pastors; Fathers Oneil Landry and Wilson Matt, former associate pastors; Monsignor Richard Green; and Fathers William Blanda, Bill Ruskoski, Clint Landry and Bill Melancon. Deacons Douglas Hebert, Harry Darce and Ricky Picard were also present, as well as Sisters Magdalen Broussard, Jules Landry, Janet Bodin and George Pusateri, all of the Marianites. The parish organizations were represented and participated in the processional, carrying their individual banners and flags. Following the mass, a reception was held at the parish center.
