Arrest in Baldwin shooting
A Franklin man was arrested Thursday in connection with a shooting in Baldwin nearly three weeks ago.
Deondric Bulter, 18, of Ninth Street, was arrested on Baldwin warrants charging him with attempted second degree murder, illegal carrying of a weapon, illegal discharge of a weapon and inciting a riot. No bond was set, Chief Sabria McGuire reported Thursday.
Baldwin Police Chief Gerald Minor reported that there had been a report of gunshots on John Street in Baldwin on Feb. 2. Officers arrived on the scene where Renaud Richards, no age given, was shot multiple times and required medical attention.
Minor said a “Franklin group versus a Baldwin group” of individuals resulted in gunfire. The exact cause remains under investigation.
Butler was identified with the help of witnesses, Minor reported. The incident remains under investigation.
