HOBY Ambassador chosen

Mayavellie Bochas was selected by Central Catholic High School to be a Hugh O’Brian Youth Leadership Ambassador. HOBY Ambassadors are high school students selected as representatives from their high schools because they have demonstrated the potential to lead others. Founded in 1958 by veteran actor Hugh O’Brian, HOBY’s mission is to provide lifelong leadership development opportunities that empower individuals to achieve their highest potential. O’Brian set out to help young people make a difference and become positive catalysts for change — in the home, school, workplace, and community. HOBY now has more than 355,000 alumni. Berwick Junior High sends care packages to soldiers

Berwick Junior High’s Student Council and seventh-grade American history class recently collected items for care packages to send to soldiers overseas. Community action agency receives donation

Carol Bethea, left, and Suzanne Ramagos, center, Family Service workers with St. Mary/Vermilion Community Action Agency, received a donation from Patterson State Bank presented by Pamela Manuel, the bank’s Community Outreach manager. Berwick Junior High Operation Christmas Child

Berwick Junior High’s Student Council, 4-H and Anime clubs collected items for Operation Christmas Child. Students were able to pack 73 boxes that will be sent to children in need around the world.
