Wetlands Acadian Cultural Center summer camp
THIBODAUX — Jean Lafitte National Historical Park and Preserve will host four weeklong day camps this summer at the Wetlands Acadian Cultural Center in Thibodaux.
The center is one of the six sites of Jean Lafitte National Historical Park and Preserve and is located at 314 Saint Mary St. For more information, call 985-448-1375 or visit www.nps.gov/jela.
Wetlands Camps are set for:
—Camp 1: June 2 to 6, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., ages 13 to 17, $100 supply and material fee
—Camp 2: June 9 to 13, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., ages 9 to 12, $50 supply and material fee
—Camp 3: June 16 to 20, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., ages 9 to 12, $50 supply and material fee
—Camp 4: June 23 to 27, 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., ages 6 to 9, $25 supply and material fee
Campers may sign up for only one camp session. Registration for Wetlands Camp is now under way. All registration is first come, first served. Applications are available at the center.
The Wetlands Acadian Cultural Center is managed by the National Park Service as part of Jean Lafitte National Historical Park and Preserve. The center’s exhibits, programs and events interpret the cultures who settled south Louisiana’s Mississippi River delta. The center is open Monday through Tuesday 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. and Wednesday through Friday 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. The center is also open 8 to 11 a.m. on Farmers Market Saturdays; call the center for dates. The center is closed on federal holidays and Mardi Gras. Admission to the center and for most programs is free. Group tours are available by reservation.
