Mrs. Lela Stansbury Simmons, 69, a resident of Baldwin and native of Franklin, died Monday, June 27, 2011, at 10:30 a.m., at Franklin Health Care Center following a short illness.

She is survived by one son, Kenneth Ray Levine of Baldwin; two brothers, Rev. Walter Stansbury Sr. of Verdunville and Harry Lee Stansbury Sr. of Bakertown; and one sister, Theresa Stansbury Pierre of Franklin.

Mrs. Simmons was preceded in death by her parents, husband, three sisters and three brothers.

Visitations will be observed Saturday, July 9, from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m., at the Baldwin Church of God in Christ United.

Burial rites will be read Saturday, at 11 a.m., at that church, with Bishop Alvin Davis Sr. officiating. Interment will follow in the Golden Queen Cemetery in Centerville.

The Otis Mortuary of Franklin is in charge of preparations.
