Franklin Police Chief Sabria McGuire reported the following arrests in an investigation into a business theft. McGuire said employees reportedly took money from a finance business on Weber Street.
For the second time in as many years, the Morgan City Recreation Department may be unable to host Pop Warner football this fall. Morgan City Recreation Director Seth Thomas said Tuesday that in 2014, for the first time in 40 years, the recreation department was not able to hold Pop Warner football due to a lack of interest.

Missing Pierre Part woman's cell phone found in Calumet

Gail Landry, 55, of Pierre Part was reported missing Sunday by family members. Her cell phone was found on the side of the road in Calumet. Landry was last reported to have been seen in the Bedford, Texas, area after going to the Bedford Police Department and filing a report for theft. She has not been seen since that report, according to an Assumption Parish Sheriff's Office news release.

The Assumption Parish Sheriff's Office is asking for the public’s assistance in locating a Pierre Part woman reported missing whose cell phone was found in Calumet.

Shrimp & Petroleum Festival poster unveiled

Tony Bernard unveiled his commissioned 2015 Louisiana Shrimp and Petroleum Festival poster Sunday at the Festival office in Morgan City. Helping with the reveal was Hailee Ann Thomas, the 79th Louisiana Shrimp and Petroleum Festival Queen. Bernard is an artist from Lafayette who has created posters for many Louisiana festivals.

The official poster for the 2015 Louisiana Shrimp and Petroleum Festival was unveiled Sunday at the Festival office.
