Red Ribbon Week is set to finish this weekend with a “Parade of Schools” and “Zoo-to-Boo Family Fun Day” Saturday.
The Chitimacha Fire Department visited with toddlers and Head Start children at the West End Library Branch in Baldwin to help promote home and personal safety during National Fire Prevention Month in October. Fire Chief Billy Mora, Capt.
The St. Mary Parish Chamber of Commerce sponsored a Business After Hours and Harvest Moon Festival Kick-off Party at the Teche Theatre for the Performing Arts Thursday. Participants enjoyed food and drinks provided by several local vendors as well as live entertainment.

Respiratory Care Week at Teche Regional

Respiratory Care Week will be celebrated Oct. 19 to 25 at Teche Regional Medical Center. The week is dedicated to supporting the professionals who have been referred to as the “silent heroes” of the medical world, a news release stated. Respiratory therapists treat people with disorders affecting the heart and lung systems such as asthma, emphysema, pneumonia, cardiovascular disorders and trauma. The combined cardiopulmonary staff at Teche Regional Medical Center has more than 200 years of experience. From 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Oct. 22, there will be an opportunity to view the services and equipment available to help therapists meet the needs of patients. There will also be therapists present to help answer questions and distribute literature at that time.
