The Central Catholic Lady Eagles will be looking to continue their postseason run when they host No. 15 St. Mary today in Class 1A regional round action at 5 p.m. The Lady Eagles (25-3) advanced to the second round after recording a 12-2 run-rule victory against Oberlin in six innings Monday in bi-district action.

Groundbreaking ceremony for power plant in Morgan City

Officials participate in this morning’s groundbreaking of the new Louisiana Energy and Power Authority power plant to be built on Youngs Road in Morgan City. The 64-megawatt natural gas-powered electric plant will cost about $120 million to build and serve Morgan City, Houma, Jonesville, Plaquemine, Rayne and Vidalia. Morgan City will have a 10-megawatt share in the plant. Construction is scheduled to be finished in late 2015.
