In response to a letter demanding the removal of prayer in public school-sponsored events, hundreds of community members and students held a candlelight prayer vigil at Morgan City High School Sunday night.

School leaders said today that St. Mary Parish school system policy affords students the opportunity to pray.

Air show

The WARPS RC Club held an air show at the Berwick landfill on Saturday. The air show allows club members from around the state to come and fly their radio-controlled aircraft at the Berwick landfill. They hold three air shows a year and local members meet every weekend. The club has been a nonprofit corporation since 1976 and has 25 to 30 members.
