The City Council gave approval Tuesday for engineers to move forward with the design and bid process of a project to replace the city’s existing wharf on Berwick Bay and extend the wharf to the south by almost 150 feet.
The St. Mary Central 10-year-old All-Stars beat West Monroe North 2-1 Tuesday to advance to the championship game today of the AAA Minor South Regional at Wally Pontiff Jr. Playground in Metairie. St. Mary Central took a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the second inning. Owen Thorguson singled driving in Luke Zerangue, who had singled.

Fire destroys 2 sheds, damages 2 homes

Morgan City firefighters responded to a fire call in which two sheds were destroyed and two houses damaged Wednesday on Wytchwood and Susan drives.

Two sheds were destroyed in a fire, one on Wytchwood Drive and the other on Susan Drive, and the fires damaged two residences, Morgan City Fire Chief Morris Price said.

Scout dinner

Chitimacha Scouting District of the Evangeline Area Council of Boy Scouts of America recently held its 11th Annual Distinguished Citizens Dinner. This year the district honored the “Founding Chefs of Chitimacha Scouting,” who are part of the original “chefs” of the annual scout steak dinner held in the late fall. Embroidered chef’s hats were presented to living chefs and family members of others.
