A substantial amount of money was stolen at gunpoint from the Exxon gas station in the 600 block of U.S. 90 West shortly after 7:45 a.m. today, Patterson Police Chief Patrick LaSalle said. An armed man, fully clothed and masked, brandished a revolver demanding money from the teller who complied, LaSalle said.

As Easter approaches, area clergy say the holiday is a reminder of Jesus’ death and resurrection to pay for everyone’s sins regardless of their beliefs.

The No. 25 seed Patterson Lumberjills will have little time to think about their first-round opponent in No. 8 seed Evangel Christian as the squad will meet the north Louisiana team today at 2 p.m. in Shreveport, just a day after the postseason brackets were released by the Louisiana High School Athletic Association.

Artificial reefs aimed at creating ‘living shoreline’

The individual OysterBreak units are like big round Legos typically stacked two layers high, Tyler Ortego said. Each unit on the top layer is 3 feet and locks it into the underlying layer. The OysterBreak units can be configured into any geometry to fit project objectives, he said.

Port officials took another step Monday towards bringing the $9.3 million government operations and emergency center to a site on La. 182 next to the Morgan City Municipal Auditorium.

Car show fundraiser for Fallen Warriors Memorial

The show, which was organized by the Southeast Louisiana Bayou Mustang Club, raised about $10,000 for the Fallen Warriors Memorial to be built at Cypress Park in Morgan City. Organizers need to raise about $150,000 to construct the memorial, he said. A groundbreaking ceremony in Cypress Park will take place Memorial Day. A dinner fundraiser will be held May 22 at the Petroleum Club of Morgan City. Tickets will go on sale after April 29, Marc Distefano, a project organizer, said. The guest speaker will be retired Maj. Gen. Larry Harrington, who Distefano met while stationed in Iraq.
