A 57-year-old Houma woman accused of stealing more than $633,000 from a Morgan City business was arrested Thursday, Morgan City Police Chief Michael Banks said in a news release. Donna Sue Peveto, 57, of Houma, was arrested at 11:25 a.m. Thursday on a warrant for seven counts of felony theft totaling $633,700, Banks said.
A $28,000 allocation from the St. Mary Parish Council will help provide equipment for first responders to deal with mass casualty events. The council agreed to provide the funds to the parish fire association after hearing from Franklin Assistant Fire Chief Jeff Hildreth Wednesday.

Scholarship at Morgan City High

Kaitlyn Verret, a 2014 Morgan City High School graduate was presented the H&B Young Foundation Scholarship during the Morgan City High School graduation ceremony.
