The Louisiana Shrimp & Petroleum Festival continues through Monday and organizers are hoping it will be one of the best years yet despite the forecast.

Morgan City, Berwick, Patterson and Central Catholic high schools all were in action Thursday at the Morgan City High School Jamboree. Each school’s varsity and junior varsity teams participated, while Morgan City’s freshmen team also was in action. The Morgan City Lady Tigers’ varsity, junior varsity and freshman teams all finished undefeated at the annual Morgan City High School Volleyball jamboree Thursday. The Lady Tigers’ varsity and junior varsity teams were 3-0, while its freshman team, which also participated in junior varsity action, finished 2-0.
Continued losses at the parish owned golf course in Patterson has some members of the parish council asking if private management would be better. Golf Course Commission Chairman Rudy Sparks presented the Atchafalaya at Idlewild’s projected budget for the upcoming fiscal year to the parish council Wednesday.
