With the alligator hunting season edging toward a close, most hunters have filled their tags for the season, and wildlife officials report no citations in this region. Sidney “Peanut” Michel, of Morgan City, said he is finishing up with the last of his nearly 300 tags.
The cupboards are nearly bare at Emergency Aid-United Way of South Louisiana in Franklin. Members of Catholic Daughters 1642 and friends gave a helping hand in stocking shelves this week for the national “Day of Caring” but empty space abounds. To donate, call 337-828-0921.

Fallen Warriors Memorial

Site work began Sept. 10 for the Fallen Warriors Memorial. Jack Murrin, City of Morgan City carpenter, and Jean Paul Bourg, Public Works supervisor, take measurements at the work site. The project is expected to be complete for Veterans Day.
