A “SPLASH AND DASH” was recently held at the Chitimacha Recreation Center. It was a combination swim/run event in which the kids swam and ran designated distances according to their age group. After the swim, ribbons were awarded in the following age groups: 3-4, 5-6, 7-8, 9-10, 11-12, 13-14 and 15-adult.

Faculty training at Hattie Watts Elementary

Hattie Watts Elementary faculty and staff just completed a four-day “7 Habits of Highly Effective People” training. Staff members were trained in the habits and will be using them to develop leadership skills in students by becoming an official “Leader in Me” school. Japanese restaurant coming to old American Legion site

Geaux Fish, a Japanese restaurant, is set to be built at the former American Legion Hall site on La. 182 next to Lirette Ford after the restaurant’s owner signed a lease agreement Tuesday.
