St. Mary Parish High School Teacher of the Year Nannette Millet is evidence that dreams do come true, if only you believe. Millet, a Crowley native, did not attend college until she was 30 years old. She was married with kids.

The St. Mary Parish Council meeting on Wednesday was a showcase of new faces as a candidate for an interim appointment to the council was sworn in and a candidate for a place on the Franklin Foundation Hospital Board of Commissioners introduced herself to the council and made her case for her candidacy.

Catholic Daughters of the Americas

At the August meeting of Catholic Daughters of the Americas Court Massabielle, members were recognized for perfect attendance. Recipients pictured are Pat Autrey, Sundra Deshotel, Veronica Governale, Betsy Grizzaffi, Marian Jones, Marguerite Landry, Angela Mire, Mary Rentrop, Denise Ritchie, Betty Rulf and Marie Swiber. Absent: Terrie Verret. Roses are presented and are donated by Marian Jones in memory of her sister.

At a recent meeting of Catholic Daughters of the Americas, members were recognized for 50 years of service.

Minster Bennie Earl Hunter, 61, a resident of Morgan City and native of Texarkana, Texas, passed away at 6:05 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 24, 2016, at his residence surrounded by family.
