The staff of Franklin Health Care Center recently presented plaques of appreciation to Sy. Mary Parish President Paul Naquin and Heart of Hospice Chaplain Brian Johnson. The plaques were given in recognition of the dedication and services provided to the staff and residents of the health care center.

District tournaments for 9- and 11-year-old teams will begin in Thibodaux Thursday at Peltier Park. Morgan City will send teams to both tournaments. In 9-year-old action, Morgan City will be joined by Franklin and Thibodaux in the event. Morgan City and Franklin will meet at 6 p.m. Thursday to begin the tournament.

The Patterson 10U All-Stars made an impressive run through the Louisiana Babe Ruth State Tournament en route to a runner-up finish Sunday in Brusly. After opening its tournament action with a 19-0 win against Westside Friday, Patterson fell Friday evening to St. Charles, 3-0.

Morgan City privatizes trash pickup

Morgan City Mayor Frank “Boo” Grizzaffi speaks to the City Council during Tuesday’s meeting. The council authorized Grizzaffi to sign a six-month contract with Progressive Waste Solutions to pick up residents’ garbage.
