Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development plans to cut 13 live oak trees along La. 182 near Moresi Road as part of a project to upgrade a portion of the highway. DOTD says the centuries’ old live oaks are too close to the road, creating safety issues. Area residents are in an uproar over the possibility of losing the oaks.

Air show

The WARPS RC Club held an air show at the Berwick landfill on Saturday. The air show allows club members from around the state to come and fly their radio-controlled aircraft at the Berwick landfill. They hold three air shows a year and local members meet every weekend. The club has been a nonprofit corporation since 1976 and has 25 to 30 members.
