Morgan City High School continues to find coaches with collegiate head coaching experience to fill its vacancies as the Tigers recently hired ex-Alcorn State coach Barret Rey to lead its baseball program.

A training trailer was used at Louisiana State University Eunice during a fire fighting skills session titled Evidence Based Scientifically Proven Fire Attack. The training was the last day of a three-day conference at LSUE. The Louisiana Company Officer Leadership Conference was held for the second time at LSU Eunice. About 100 Louisiana firefighters spent three days at LSU Eunice learning skills from leadership to a fire fighting tactic that one of the state’s top trainers calls controversial. Dave Casey, director of the LSU Carrol Herring Fire & Emergency Training Institute in Baton Rouge, said training was for first-line supervisors.

Authorities are asking for the public’s help in finding a Morgan City man wanted for first-degree murder. He’s wanted in connection with a Monday shooting in Lafayette that left one man dead and another in critical condition.

Mourners file into the Church of the Assumption in Franklin today for the funeral of Mayci Breaux, 21. Breaux was one of two young women gunned down Thursday in the Lafayette Grand 16 movie theater shootings. The funeral for the second victim, Jillian Johnson of Lafayette, was scheduled for 12:30 p.m. today in that city.

Mourners gathered at 1812 Main St. Friday in respect for the memory of Mayci Breaux, listening to words from local clergy, officials and family members. Breaux was a victim of a shooting in Lafayette Thursday at the Grand Theater on Johnston Street. At the end of the vigil purple balloons were released in Breaux’s honor.
