Berwick and Patterson High schools combined for five first-team All-District 8-3A baseball selections. Berwick’s top choices included pitcher Bradley Gray, first baseman D.J. Robichaux and outfielder Cameron Wiley. Patterson’s first-team picks were utility selections, Bryce Beaubouef and Jamey Fabre.

Deputies with the St. Mary Parish Sheriff’s Office made a sizeable drug bust last weekend, seizing over 50 marijuana plants among other items from a growing operation in Verdunville.

Central Catholic awards and scholarships

The Louis J. “Billy” Adams Memorial Award was instituted by the late Mr. L.T. Ozio and Mrs. Ozio. It is presented annually to the CCHS graduating senior who has exemplified high Christian Catholic principles, has performed outstanding service to the school and fellow students, and has excelled in the quality of dependability. This year’s recipients were Emma Thomas and William Hunter.

The high school presented the awards and scholarships at a recent breakfast.
