Marilynn Bailey blasted a three-run home run in the bottom of the sixth inning to tie Morgan City’s bi-district playoff game against West Ouachita at 6. But West Ouachita answered with the go-ahead run in the top of the seventh inning for a 7-6 win Tuesday in Morgan City.

About 200 people, mostly crawfishermen, assembled to discuss how to fight back as they say their livelihoods are threatened in the Atchafalaya Basin.

The downtown live music series “Rhythms on the River” is scheduled to begin Friday and continue each Friday through June 20, according to a Cajun Coast Visitors and Convention Bureau news release. The dates for this year’s series are April 25, May 2, 9, 16, 23 and 30, June 6, 13 and 20.

Inmates at the Morgan City Jail will receive some of the roughly 150 pairs of socks Mt. Era Baptist Church donated to help keep inmates warm who cannot afford to buy socks.
