Patterson Garden Club members decorated the Christmas tree and lobby at Patterson Healthcare Center on Dec. 3. The club also presented a check to Activity Director Margaret Paul to help purchase Christmas gifts for residents.
Jurors heard Justin Edward Patterson in his own words, from 3 1/2 years ago, say he was at home the night of May 20, 2013, when Mikki Jay Dauntain was shot and killed in Morgan City.
Patterson High teacher and coach Brandon Harden resigned today as an employee of St. Mary Parish schools. St. Mary Superintendent Leonard Armato only confirmed Harden’s resignation was effective immediately and stated it was received today. He did not comment beyond that.

Sheriff investigating missing boat

The St. Mary Parish Sheriff's Office marine division is searching for a boat stolen Saturday from Banana Pass in Sweet Bay Lake south of Berwick. The boat is described as a “dead grass green” 19-foot long V-shaped homemade aluminum boat with a welded on 17-gallon gas tank. (Submitted)

Authorities are investigating a Saturday boat theft that occurred south of Berwick, according to a news release.;

Giving for Thanksgiving: Churches invite community to a meal

Pharr Chapel and Walmsley United Methodist churches in Morgan City hosted their annual Thanksgiving dinner Saturday at Pharr Chapel. Sheryl Mashburn, center, of Pharr Chapel, brings Thanksgiving meals to, seated from left, Georgia Carbin, Mary White and Earline Delaune.

For about the past decade, a local United Methodist community has provided a free Thanksgiving meal for area residents.
