Several members of the Bayou Horseshoe Pitchers Association will be attending the NHPA World Horseshoe Pitching Championships, which begins Monday and concludes Aug. 6 in Montgomery, Alabama.

Patterson resident Alyssa Landry got a boost in confidence and a desire to do more as a community ambassador of goodwill after winning the 2016 National American Miss Louisiana Junior Teen Queen pageant. The competition was held July 9-11 in Baton Rouge.

A few cooks in this weekend’s fifth annual Bayou BBQ Bash gave visitors a taste Thursday of what they can expect during the barbecue competition in Morgan City when 57 teams will vie for the title of grand champion.

St. Mary Parish Sheriff Mark Hebert reported the following arrests:
Matthew Strubb, 18, of 1803 Canal Drive, Franklin, was arrested Wednesday at 9:33 a.m. and charged with illegal possession of stolen things. No bail was set.
