Early voting totals in St. Mary Parish neared 1,800 ballots cast through the third day of voting Tuesday, Registrar of Voters Jolene Holcombe said in a news release. A total of 1,774 people in St. Mary Parish cast votes by the end of early voting Tuesday, Holcombe said. Early voting began Saturday.

Organizers for the Adullam Household of Faith expect to be able to start taking children into the home shortly after Jan. 1, 2015, the Rev. Marty Harden of Bethel Pentecostal Church said Monday.

In response to a letter demanding the removal of prayer in public school-sponsored events, hundreds of community members and students held a candlelight prayer vigil at Morgan City High School Sunday night.
