A Business After Hours party to kick off the Black Bear Festival was held Thursday at the Teche Theatre for the Performing Arts in Franklin. The St. Mary Chamber of Commerce event included musical entertainment by Rick Lorenzo and many local food vendors. The festival kicks off tonight at 6 and continues through Sunday.

School leaders said today that St. Mary Parish school system policy affords students the opportunity to pray.

Boy Scout Steak Dinner tickets

The steak dinner begins with refreshments from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. with the dinner to follow. The dinner will be held at the AARP building, formerly the KC Home in Morgan City. Tickets are $75 each.
