The Spirit of Morgan City shrimp boat on Brashear Avenue has a fresh coat of paint just in a time for the Shrimp & Petroleum Festival, thanks to Boy Scout Jack Autrey, his fellow scouts and family.

A ribbon cutting was held Saturday for Chic & Shabby Collections of Franklin. Owners Betty and Jody Veeder were joined by friends, family, vendors, local officials and Chamber of Commerce members for the occasion. The business, located at 716 Main St., is a flea market-style shop with 13 different vendors set up inside.

Five people including two juveniles were arrested Thursday after a fight in Verdunville, St. Mary Parish Sheriff Mark Hebert said in a news release.
