The Patterson Lumberjacks won the Lumberjack Invitational over the weekend after beating Thibodaux in the championship game.

Two of the Morgan City Housing Authority employees who are accused of receiving improper pay and bonuses will continue to be employed with the authority at least until officials finish investigating the authority’s right to action against state Civil Service classified employees, the housing authority board decided Thursday.

Central Catholic’s Charlie Barron was selected to the Louisiana Sportswriters Association Class 1A All-State Football First Team, and three other Eagles made honorable mention all-state, according to an article published Thursday in The Advocate.

Holy Cross science lesson

Students in third through sixth grades at Holy Cross Elementary School in Morgan City learned cell theory in science class. Each student in sixth grade built an edible DNA model with Twizzlers, marshmallows and toothpicks while learning basic DNA structure and the rules of base pairing. The students in fourth and sixth grades created plant or animal cells identifying the parts of the cell and the function of each part.
