A Colorado women’s roller derby team, on a mission to raise funds to stop domestic violence and sexual assault, skated their way into the Tri-City area Sunday as part of a 2,800-mile trip across the country.
All ballot propositions except one passed in Saturday’s election. The St. Mary Parish government’s $6.5 million bond proposal with .92 mills to support its newly created road district failed with 1,012 votes or 46.83 percent, in favor to 1,149 votes, or 53.17 percent against.
Easter egg hunts were held Wednesday at Caffery Park in Franklin. The first egg hunt involved parents who quickly filled empty bags as they scrambled about looking for the gold and silver eggs. A large number of fathers and father figures joined in the egg hunting fun and enjoyed the event as much as their children in the next hunt.

A 24-year-old Morgan City man was charged with striking his girlfriend after he kicked in the door of a motel room where the woman and another man were engaging in prostitution, Morgan City Police

COA Halloween

St. Mary Council on Aging participated in Halloween during Trick or Treat hours last week. Treats were handed out at the Senior Center in Franklin to some 500 trick-or-treaters.

Public works fire

Franklin firefighters were called out shortly before 1 p.m. Thursday to put out a fire that destroyed this dump truck at the St. Mary Parish public works facility on La. 182.

Central Catholic High School Hall of Fame

Central Catholic High School inducted five alumni into their Hall of Fame Friday night at their homecoming game.
