The Morgan City Housing Authority board began Thursday the process of finding a new executive director by forming a sub-committee for the sole purpose of filling that position and also approved keeping its interim director for at least six more months.

The Morgan City girls’ bowling team started off their season with a 21-6 victory against Vandebilt Catholic, the 2014 girls’ state runner-up. Hannah Pipes led Morgan City with a 610 series (204, 210, 196).

Arbor Day ceremony in Morgan City

Morgan City Garden Club and the City of Morgan City celebrated Arbor Day by planting five oak trees at the petting zoo in Morgan City on Friday. Men’s Wild Game Supper

Kevin Willis will be the speaker for the Men’s Wild Game Supper at Bayou Vista Baptist Church, 411 Field St., at 6 p.m. Saturday. Admission is $10 per person. Children under 13 are admitted free. All money raised will be used for the Gulf Coast Baptist Association Disaster Relief Fund. The supper includes all kinds of wild game and a service follows. Willis grew up in Oakdale and now lives in Kinder, and is married to Cathy Elliott Willis. He has three children. He works in the forestry business and has served bi-vocationally with music and youth, and as pastor. Willis is an avid fisherman and hunter. He is the pastor of Indian Village Baptist Church near Kinder. There will be numerous door prizes. For more information, call 985-395-3070.
