A few horses decided to go for a stroll through Bayou Vista early this morning by themselves. The St. Mary Parish Sheriff’s Office received a complaint at 5:03 a.m. today that several horses had crossed U.S. 90 near the Plantation Inn in Bayou Vista, Sheriff’s Office spokeswoman Traci Landry said.

When the St. Mary PONY 14-year-old All-Stars take the field Thursday, they will do so as at least the last east St. Mary Parish team still playing any kind of youth baseball this summer.
Brittany’s Special Friends Camp was held earlier this month at Franklin Senior High School.

Ribbon-cutting held for skate park in Morgan City

A ribbon-cutting ceremony was held Monday for The Complex Skate Park in Morgan City located behind Cypress Park. The park is a skateboard-only facility and will be open during all daylight hours, Morgan City Mayor Frank “Boo” Grizzaffi said. The city received $26,000 in funding from the parish to help pay for the equipment and cement work, Grizzaffi said. The total project cost was $36,000, the mayor said.
