The Berwick High School track and field teams swept Friday’s Tri-City Relay team titles. The Panthers finished with 102 points, while the Lady Panthers totaled 130 points.

Port officials took another step Monday towards bringing the $9.3 million government operations and emergency center to a site on La. 182 next to the Morgan City Municipal Auditorium.
St. Mary Landmarks held its yearly spring cleanup of City Park and Grevemberg House on March 29. Volunteers included Elaine Karam, Trent Downing, Katie Seim, Beto Zuniga, Ron Bailey, Kay Schwitz, Didi Battle and Clara O’Niell. Car show fundraiser for Fallen Warriors Memorial

The show, which was organized by the Southeast Louisiana Bayou Mustang Club, raised about $10,000 for the Fallen Warriors Memorial to be built at Cypress Park in Morgan City. Organizers need to raise about $150,000 to construct the memorial, he said. A groundbreaking ceremony in Cypress Park will take place Memorial Day. A dinner fundraiser will be held May 22 at the Petroleum Club of Morgan City. Tickets will go on sale after April 29, Marc Distefano, a project organizer, said. The guest speaker will be retired Maj. Gen. Larry Harrington, who Distefano met while stationed in Iraq.

Patterson High fire alarm

Patterson High School students were evacuated to the school’s bleachers about noon Friday because of an air conditioner fire on the roof of the building. The fire caused smoke to billow into the halls, according to Principal Rachael Credeur. There were no injuries, and students returned to lunch and their classes about 45 minutes later.
