Eight people have been charged in connection with a string of residential and vehicle burglaries in St. Mary and Assumption parishes, according to law enforcement officials.

Anytime Morgan City and Patterson meet between the white lines, it’s a rivalry game. But at this year’s game in the Taco Bell/KFC St. Mary Parish Football Jamboree Friday at Tiger Stadium in Morgan City, there’s even more bragging rights at stake as longtime fellow coaches find themselves on opposite sidelines for the first time.

Tour du Teche V, marathon races for kayaks, canoes, paddle boards and pirogues, begins Friday, Oct. 3, at Port Barre, La. Competition is for cash in the Racing Division and for trophies in the Voyageur (recreational) Division.

Dr. Walter Daniels recognized at Teche Regional Medical Center

Teche Regional Medical Center presented Dr. Walter Daniels a plaque on Tuesday for his dedication to the medical profession and service to the community. Daniels is retiring. Those present were Cheryl Vellion, surgery; Joy Burns, human resources; Julie Domino, physician liaison; Patti Givens, medical staff coordinator; Tabby Lipari, women services director; Raymond Pisani, cardiopulmonary director; Butch Frazier, Teche Regional CEO; Daniels; John Ditch, behavior health director; Mary Loupe, case management; Ken Ekiss, pharmacy director; Holly Gaudet, clinical informatics coordinator; Don Kight, assistant administrator; and Sabrina Roy, marketing director.
