Franklin’s Historic District Commission, Zoning Board of Adjustments and Planning Commission said farewell to Chief Building Official & Planning and Zoning Director Blake Steiner at Tuesday’s meeting of the city council. Steiner accepted a position with the Rapides Area Planning Commission.

An infusion of young talent has the Berwick football program looking forward to big things. The Panthers’ freshman and sophomore classes come in with a winning tradition. When Craig Brodie took over the Berwick program, he reached out to junior high and youth league coaches in the area.

Grand opening at welcome center

The Cajun Coast Visitors and Convention Bureau Welcome and Interpretive Center will hold its grand opening Wednesday in Morgan City. The grand opening ceremony from 4 to 6 p.m. Wednesday is to include food, music from a live band and tours of the building. A ribbon cutting ceremony will be held at 4:30 p.m. Overflow parking will be at the city pool and a shuttle will be provided.
