A 26-year-old Morgan City man was arrested Tuesday for violating a protective order and on several drug charges, St. Mary Parish Sheriff Mark Hebert said in a news release.
—Jamal M. Gibson, 26, of the 1100 block of Headland Street in Morgan City, was arrested at 8:23 a.m. Tuesday for violation of a protective order, possession of Schedule I (marijuana) second offense, possession of drug paraphernalia, on a warrant for failure to appear on the charges of possession of cocaine with intent to distribute, possession of marijuana with intent to distribute, possession of drug paraphernalia, a warrant from Lafourche Parish for failure to appear on the charge of possession of marijuana, and a warrant from City Court of Morgan City for failure to appear on the charge of remaining where forbidden.
A deputy investigating a report of a violation of a protective order learned that Gibson disobeyed the court order by attempting to visit a resident in the Siracusa area, Hebert said.
St. Mary Parish Sheriff Mark Hebert reported responding to 46 complaints in the parish and reported the following arrests in east St. Mary Parish:
Gibson was located on Headland Street sitting inside a vehicle. Upon making contact with Gibson, the deputy smelled marijuana emanating from the car. The deputy received consent to search the vehicle and located marijuana. Gibson admitted to violating the protective order, Hebert said. He was jailed with no bail set.
—Franklin Pearce III, 29, of the 2100 block of River Road in Berwick, was arrested at 2:45 p.m. Tuesday on a warrant for issuing worthless checks. Pearce was released on a summons to appear in court June 12.
—Jeremy J. Hall, 23, of the 100 block of Cherry Street in Patterson, was arrested at 7:17 p.m. Tuesday for possession of marijuana. Narcotics detectives patrolling the Bayou Vista area conducted a stop on a vehicle for a traffic violation on U.S. 90. Detectives made contact with a passenger, identified as Hall, and received consent to search, Hebert said. Detectives located marijuana on Hall and inside the vehicle. Hall was released on a summons to appear in court June 12.
Morgan City Police Chief Michael Banks reported the following arrest:
—Kelsey L. Francois, 18, of Orange Street in Morgan City, was arrested at 1:44 p.m. Tuesday for speeding, possession of marijuana, possession of Schedule III (Carisoprodol).
An officer observed a vehicle speeding on Federal Avenue and Onstead Street and stopped the vehicle to investigate. The driver, Francois, was found to be in possession of suspected marijuana and Carisoprodol. She was jailed.
Patterson Police Chief Patrick LaSalle reported no arrests.
Berwick Police Chief James Richard reported no arrests.
