Central Catholic holds off OCS, will face Mangham Saturday for title

MONROE -- The Central Catholic Eagles held off a furious Ouachita Christian rally in the bottom of the seventh inning for an 8-7 win to advance to Saturday's Class 1A state final.

While Ouachita Christian entered the bottom of the seventh inning trailing 8-3, it plated four runs in the inning to cut the margin to 8-7.

Junior Bryson Barbier, who relieved freshman starter Samuel Guarisco after Guarisco threw the first 6.2 innings, fanned Ouachita Christian's Tanner Pennebaker with the bases loaded and two outs for the win.

Central Catholic will face Mangham, a 6-2 winner in the other Class 1A semifinal played prior to Central Catholic's contest, in Saturday's 4 p.m. state title game.

The game can be heard on KBZE 105.9 FM and KFRA 1390 AM. Pregame is set for a 3:30 p.m. start.
