Construction on a new, 75,000-gallon water tower on Oak Street near Railroad Avenue in Morgan City is moving forward. The metal “leaves” composing the tank atop the tower now are being hoisted into place. The tower, which will hold three times as much water as the previous tower at the same site, is expected to increase water pressure throughout the city, therefore enhancing firefighting efforts and water capacity during future storm threats or extended power outages. City consulting engineer Oscar Boudreaux of Environmental Engineers Consultants in LaPlace said the project is expected to be complete by year’s end.
